Project Spotlight: A Digital Roar for Renfrewshire

Project Spotlight: A Digital Roar for Renfrewshire

At Kuka Studios, we have a pretty simple rule: we don’t hide behind jargon, and we don’t recommend “shiny” features unless they actually solve a problem.

When we sat down with the team at Roar – Connections for Life, the problem was clear. They do incredible work across Renfrewshire—everything from foot care and OTAGO exercise classes to befriending services that tackle the isolation often felt by older adults. But their digital presence wasn’t reflecting that energy. It wasn’t just about looking “modern”; it was about being accessible.

The Challenge: Beyond the “Bling”

Building a site for a charity that supports older adults requires a different kind of thinking. It’s not about parallax scrolling or complex animations. It’s about high-contrast ratios, intuitive navigation, and making sure a daughter in a rush can find a falls-prevention class for her dad in under three clicks.

What We Did (And Why)

We rebuilt www.roarforlife.org from the ground up with a focus on three core pillars:

  1. Accessibility First: We won’t bore you with the technical specs of WCAG guidelines, but we made sure this site works for everyone. Large, readable typography and a layout that doesn’t “break” on tablets or mobile phones were non-negotiable.
  2. Streamlined Service Requests: Roar offers a “varied menu” of social opportunities. We simplified the user journey so that whether you’re looking to volunteer or requesting a service for a relative, the process is human, direct, and jargon-free.
  3. Local Impact: As a business rooted in the West of Scotland, we wanted to showcase the heartbeat of the charity. The new site highlights their clubs in Paisley, Johnstone, and beyond, making the digital experience feel as community-focused as the physical one.

The Result

We’ve delivered a platform that is as resilient and straightforward as the people Roar supports. There are no hidden “marketing tricks” here—just a clear, honest gateway to vital services.

We’re proud to have played a small part in helping Roar empower older adults to stay active, independent, and in charge.
