This is by no means a conclusive list of what you need to know before embarking on Google Adwords. If you need any more help, or if you’d like someone just to look after everything for you - contact us.
1. Make your Ad title stand out
Titles have the greatest effect on ROI when it comes to Google Adwords. Make sure your title matches your campaign - so that your ad seems relevant to the user. You can use Google’s Dynamic title tool…but taking the time to write your own is much more effective.
2. Practice makes perfect
Take the time to test different creatives and try out different positions. We have been using Adwords for seven years now and while we have our own set of rules which work, every campaign is different and it is worth trying 3 or 4 different creatives, and targeting different positions to see which works best.
3. Choose your landing page wisely
I cannot stress strongly enough the importance of sending your users to the right landing page. If you are selling products, take them directly too the product, not your home page. If you want to make a sale, don’t make the people work to buy something - make it easy for them.
4. Follow the rules
Google is the Boss when it comes to Adwords so make sure you keep him happy. Rules you must follow include - no superlatives (you are not the Coolest unless you can prove it!), don’t write ALL IN CAPITALS, and no trademarks (unless you own them. The rest of Google’s rules can be found here
5. Include a Call to Action
Buy, Compare, Join, Find Out More, Sell etc. By being explicit about what you want people to do you weed out wasted clicks.
